When the teacher of isolated village La Croix du Fau dies, officially of a heart attack, he's replaced by Sylvia, a lovely young music lover. Soon after, as she's playing her violin in the forest, she meets a small boy, Eric Tuffery, who isn't one of her pupils. Après la mort de son instituteur, officiellement due à une crise cardiaque, La croix du Fau, petite bourgade isolée, accueille sa remplaçante, Sylvia, une charmante jeune femme mélomane. Peu après, alors qu’elle joue du violon dans la forêt, Sylvia rencontre un petit garçon, Eric Tuffery, qui ne compte manifestement pas parmi ses élèves. Depuis la mort de sa mère, Eric vit seul avec son père, Roland, un guérisseur, qui lui interdit purement et simplement de fréquenter l’école.
