First, there is the beehive trafficking that has been rampant for several months and has put beekeepers - including the Portals - on edge. Above all, there is the identity of the victim: 20 years ago, Antoine Bernier was one of the only survivors of the tragic bus accident that claimed the lives of almost the entire local youth football team. Chloé, Anaïs and Geraldine Portal respectively lost their father, their husband and their son. Fred Carel was also on this bus. And it is to Antoine Bernier that he owes his life.

Après 20 ans d’absence, le capitaine Fred Carel revient dans la petite ville de Provence qui l’a vu grandir. Avec Sara, son ancienne camarade de lycée devenue lieutenant de la gendarmerie locale, il doit enquêter sur la mort d’Antoine Bernier, tué par des dizaines de piqûres d’abeilles auxquelles il était allergique. Ça pourrait n'être qu’un triste accident dans cette région apicole, mais plusieurs éléments suspects interpellent Fred et Sara. Tous convergent vers Chloé, Anaïs et Géraldine Portal, trois générations de femmes d’une éminente famille de la région.
Il y a d’abord ce trafic de ruches qui sévit depuis quelques mois et met les apiculteurs - dont les Portal - à cran. Surtout, il y a l’identité de la victime : il y a 20 ans, Antoine Bernier fut l’un des seuls rescapés du tragique accident de bus qui coûta la vie à la quasi-totalité de l’équipe junior de football locale. Chloé, Anaïs et Géraldine Portal y ont respectivement perdu leur père, leur mari et leur fils. Fred Carel était aussi dans ce bus. Et c’est à Antoine Bernier qu’il doit la vie.
